Uber continues to surprise with the diversity of services that their app is able to provide. These services range from just a quick & inexpensive way to get from point A to point B; to the more luxurious methods of transportation such as an UberBLACK or an UberSELECT.
If you’re truly looking for a way to ride in style, you need to check out UberCHOPPER…
UberCHOPPER (your very own private helicopter service) is an EXTREMELY exclusive service that has only been offered in a handful of cities so far – so riding in an UberCHOPPER would most certainly give you several weeks of bragging rights.
Where is UberCHOPPER Available and for How Much?
Uber recently offered their private helicopter rides to the Cannes Film Festival in France – which costed 160 euros (about ~$180 USD). This service included:
- Ground transportation to the helipad
- 7 minute flight to the music festival event
- Limousine service to bring you to the event once you land
Considering that this transit would normally take about an hour by car, UberCHOPPER seems both convenient and cost effective. Coordinating such an elaborate transit on your own would likely cause a massive headache; however, with the Uber App at your fingertips, you’ll be up in the air in no time.
The cost of an UberCHOPPER will vary though as they broker deals with local helicopter providers (with different operational costs), and also is dependant on just how far of a flight they’ll be offering and how long it will take.
In addition to the Cannes Film Festival, UberCHOPPER has been offered in a similar way for a one-way ride from NYC to the Hamptons. This trip featured:
- Flat rate cost of $3000 for up to 5 passengers ($600/person when utilizing the fare-splitting feature)
- Door-to-door SUV transportation services for all passengers once you land
UberCHOPPER was also operating rides to the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival with flights from Nashville, Tennessee as well as an Uber ride back to Nashville. This trip package costed $1500 even. A similar service was also offered for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival that costed $3000 for up to 5 passengers.
Uber helicopter flights from Dubai to Abu Dhabi for the 2015 F-1 Grand Prix were also offered for about $612 per person. UberCHOPPER’s were also offered in Hawaii to the Polo Club event in May for $350 per person (if the fare was split between 6 people).
They have even offered free ‘CHOPPER flights to a few lucky individuals in Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Phillipines, Hong Kong, Rio de Janeiro, Bangkok, Lisbon, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Melbourne, Shanghai, and Cape Town (South Africa).
Showing up to an event in style is not the only reason you may want to call for an UberCHOPPPER. In a few of the locations previously listed, city tours have also being offered. These aerial tours vary in length of time and cost. One example of a recent tour service was a 45 minute helicopter ride over LA (Los Angeles, California), which included a “Safari Tour” of the Malibu Wines property. The cost for this tour was $500 per person.
Where is UberCHOPPER Going to be Available Next?
Uber has announced that UberCHOPPER will be available next in Columbo, Sri Lanka. If you live there or plan on visiting, you can actually get a free UberCHOPPER flight thanks to their new promotion; simply make sure that you take at least two Uber car rides between Saturday, December 5, 2015, 12:01 am and Saturday, December 12, 2015, 11:59 pm.
This will “unlock” the “CHOPPER” feature on your phone and on a future date (not yet disclosed by Uber) you will be able to request a free Uber helicopter ride. Uber has stated that this will be subject to availability and the full details of the “free helicopter ride” have not yet been fully disclosed.
